Is Final Expense worth it?
As with most insurance policies: it depends. Whether final expense insurance is worth it or not for you will depend on your age and health. Usually, a term policy is the most ideal option and most cost-effective way to cover any funeral expenses.
But if your age or health would disqualify you from getting an affordable life insurance policy, final expense insurance is a great option to pay out a death benefit to your beneficiaries when you die.
If you qualify for regular final expense insurance (not guaranteed issue), your premiums can be as low as $30-$70 a month and pay out a death benefit between $2,000 and $50,000. Premiums are much more affordable than term life policies and you pay the same monthly premium for the life of your policy, even if you develop a health condition later. Your premium will depend on your age at the time of purchase, health, and sometimes, whether or not you use tobacco products.
If you don’t have a life insurance policy, can’t qualify for an affordable life insurance policy, and are worried about leaving a financial burden on your family when you die, final expense may absolutely be worth it for you.
